A whirlwind 24 hours for a young New York Yankees fan took an even more exciting turn Wednesday.

Nine-year-old Derek Rodriguez went viral Tuesday night after Toronto Blue Jays fan Mike Lanzillotta handed him an Aaron Judge home run ball, causing the youngster to break down in tears and hug Lanzillotta.

Before New York's series finale with the Blue Jays, Rodriguez and Lanzillotta were brought to the field to meet Judge, who described the affair as a "special moment."

"A Blue Jays fan to have that moment with a young Yankees fan. ... It just speaks volumes to the Blue Jays fans they have here, and it's a cool little connection they've got," Judge said, according to Newsday's Erik Boland.

The All-Star outfielder also admitted it's still an overwhelming feeling to see fans wearing his jersey.

"That still gives me goosebumps to this day. To see little kids are wearing my number, wearing my jersey - it's not something I ever dreamed of," Judge said.

"I used to be in (Rodriguez's) position. That little kid rooting on my favorite players and teams. That was a pretty cool moment that I definitely won't forget."

Lanzillotta's gesture made a positive impression on Blue Jays outfielder George Springer, who sent him a signed jersey.
