Chicago White Sox star slugger Eloy Jimenez is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks after he was carted off the field with a right hamstring strain during Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins, the team announced Sunday.
The team has placed Jimenez on the 10-day injured list and reinstated right-hander Lucas Giolito in a corresponding move. Jimenez will undergo further evaluations.
The 25-year-old outfielder left in the second inning after stumbling while trying to beat out a ground ball to first base. Jimenez stayed on the ground clutching his leg while trainers assessed him before he was carted off.

Gavin Sheets took over in right field, while Andrew Vaughn shifted over to Jimenez's position in left field.
Jimenez was limited to 55 games last season with a pectoral injury. He's also missed time due to ankle and knee ailments during his MLB career.
The former Silver Slugger is hitting .222/.256/.333 with one home run in 11 games this season.
