The Toronto Blue Jays will be without a big piece of their pitching staff for an indefinite period of time.
Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo announced Tuesday that right-hander Nate Pearson will be out "a while" with mononucleosis, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
The 25-year-old Pearson emerged as an effective relief option for the Blue Jays in 2021, finishing the season with a 4.20 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 15 innings.
Montoyo also announced relievers Taylor Saucedo, Julian Merryweather, and Trent Thornton will be on the Opening Day roster.
