The Toronto Blue Jays have signed veteran outfielder Dexter Fowler to a minor-league contract with an invitation to MLB camp, the team announced Thursday.

Fowler appeared in just seven games for the Los Angeles Angels in 2021 before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
The 36-year-old could provide another outfield option for the Blue Jays behind George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and the recently acquired Raimel Tapia.
Toronto reportedly offered Fowler a four-year, $64-million contract in 2016, but he ultimately joined the St. Louis Cardinals on a five-year, $82.5-million pact.
The 14-year veteran has also made career stops with the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, and Chicago Cubs.
Fowler's most notable season came in 2016 when he earned his only All-Star nod and helped the Cubs snap their 108-year World Series drought.
The switch-hitter owns a lifetime .259/.358/.417 slash line with 127 home runs, 517 RBIs, and 149 stolen bases across 1,460 games.
