The deal also includes two team options for the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.
Montoyo, 56, is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Blue Jays, which would've been the last year of his current contract. After struggling to a 95-loss season in his rookie campaign as skipper, the Blue Jays finished with 91 wins last year, painstakingly missing the postseason by one game.
Over this three-year managerial career, Montoyo possesses a 190-194 record. He led the Jays to the postseason during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, but they were swept in the wild-card round by the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays.
Montoyo began his professional coaching career with the Rays organization back in 1997, eventually working his way up to bench coach in 2015. Following the 2018 season, Montoyo replaced John Gibbons to become the 14th manager in franchise history.
