The Detroit Tigers and right-handed starter Michael Pineda have reportedly agreed to a one-year, $5.5-million contract, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The deal can be worth an additional $2.5 million in incentives, per Heyman.
Pineda, 33, spent the previous three seasons with the division-rival Minnesota Twins. Over eight career campaigns, the former All-Star possesses a 3.98 ERA and 3.69 FIP while making 169 starts and one relief appearance.
The veteran starter joins an ascendant Tigers club that has already added left-handed starter Eduardo Rodriguez, shortstop Javier Baez, and catcher Tucker Barnhart.
Pineda will slot into a rotation led by Rodriguez that also includes young right-handers Casey Mize and Matt Manning, as well as southpaw Tarik Skubal. All three are under 26 years old.
