The San Francisco Giants and right-hander Carlos Martinez are in agreement on a minor-league contract, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
The deal is worth $2.5 million if Martinez makes the Giants roster and also includes $1.5 million in incentives, Rosenthal adds.
Martinez struggled mightily in 2021 for the St. Louis Cardinals, posting a 4-9 record with a 6.23 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 82 1/3 innings pitched.
The 30-year-old will look to bounce back in the Bay Area and provide depth to a rotation featuring Logan Webb, the newly signed Carlos Rodon, Anthony DeSclafani, Alex Wood, and Alex Cobb.
Martinez is a two-time All-Star and owns a lifetime 62-52 record with 31 saves, a 3.74 ERA, and 927 strikeouts in 967 innings.
