St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has said he will retire after the 2022 season, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo.

The 39-year-old signed a one-year extension with the Cardinals on Tuesday reportedly worth $10 million. Molina's spent his entire 18-year career so far with St. Louis and will now retire with the club.

After fielding offers from other teams last offseason, Molina expressed earlier in August that it would be "awesome" if he could figure something out with the Cardinals for next season.

The 10-time All-Star has also racked up nine Gold Glove Awards, a Silver Slugger Award, and helped lead St. Louis to two World Series titles in 2006 and 2011. Molina's racked up over 2,000 career hits, 150 home runs, and 900 RBIs in his career so far.

Molina owns a .259/.304/.376 slash line with eight home runs and 51 RBIs in 94 games this campaign.
