Bauer to miss rest of season with investigation ongoing
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Trevor Bauer will miss the remainder of the 2021 season and the playoffs while Major League Baseball's investigation into him is ongoing, his agents confirmed Friday in a statement obtained by Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic.
The league and the MLBPA have extended Bauer's administrative leave numerous times already in seven-day intervals. The two parties recently agreed to extend it through the rest of the campaign, including the postseason.
"Today Mr. Bauer agreed to extend his administrative leave through the playoffs in a measure of good faith and in an effort to minimize any distraction to the Dodgers organization and his teammates," said Bauer's co-agents, Jon Fetterolf and Rachel Luba. "He continues to cooperate with the MLB investigation and refute the baseless allegations against him."
The Los Angeles County district attorney's office is still reviewing the findings from the Pasadena Police Department and hasn't yet decided whether to file charges, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.
In August, a judge denied a domestic violence restraining order filed against Bauer by a woman who said he sexually assaulted her.
Bauer, 30, is finishing the first season of a three-year contract signed with the Dodgers this past winter.
