The Minnesota Twins traded right-handed reliever Hansel Robles to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for right-hander Alex Scherff.
Robles, 30, posted a 4.91 ERA and 4.82 FIP over 45 appearances this year, notching 10 saves. Over seven seasons, the right-hander owns a 4.03 ERA and 4.12 FIP.
Robles joins a bullpen led by Matt Barnes and Adam Ottavino, ranking fourth in the majors by FanGraphs WAR. The relief corps for the first-place Red Sox only sits behind the Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners, and New York Yankees.
Scherff, 23, has made 23 relief appearances this year across High-A and Double-A, posting a 2.45 ERA and 1.19 WHIP.
