New York Mets manager Luis Rojas said Thursday he isn't worried about ace right-hander Jacob deGrom's shoulder after an injury forced him out of Wednesday's game. MRIs showed no damage and the plan is for deGrom to avoid the injured list.

"Both doctors had the same prognosis from the imaging," Rojas said. "It just shows as a normal shoulder that a pitcher would have. There's no concern. Nothing like we believed last night after he was initially seen by our trainers ... We're just gonna take it day-by-day."

Rojas added deGrom played catch on Thursday afternoon. And while the hope is for the Cy Young contender to avoid the IL, Rojas wouldn't commit to deGrom taking the mound for his next scheduled start.

It's not the first time deGrom has been sidelined this season. The All-Star hurler missed two weeks in May due to side tightness and left his June 11 start with flexor tendonitis.

"This is not the same thing," Rojas said. "It's been three different things. We want to pay attention to this thing now (with) a day-by-day approach."

The 32-year-old is 6-2 with a remarkable 0.54 ERA and 0.51 WHIP over 67 innings across 11 starts.
