The San Francisco Giants placed starting pitcher Kevin Gausman on the injured list for an unspecified reason, the team announced Tuesday.
Gausman had emerged as San Francisco's ace in the early going by posting a 2-0 record with a 2.04 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings.
Because the right-hander is not on the 10-day injured list, he could be activated within a shorter window. His next start is tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the San Diego Padres.
Catching prospect Joey Bart was recalled from the team's alternate training site in a corresponding move.
