San Diego Padres right-hander Dinelson Lamet is starting Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the club announced.

It will mark Lamet's return to the mound after he was removed from his only start of the 2021 season April 21 after 29 pitches due to right forearm tightness.

Lamet underwent Tommy John surgery in 2018 and missed the end of his breakout 2020 campaign with a biceps injury.

If Lamet can stay healthy, he could be a major weapon in San Diego's pitching arsenal. The 28-year-old went 3-1 with a 2.09 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 12 starts last summer. And though he was pulled early in his season debut, he still struck out four of the eight batters he faced.
