Chicago Cubs right-hander Ryan Tepera was suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount Thursday for throwing behind Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff during Tuesday's game.

MLB determined that Tepera intentionally threw at him after Woodruff hit Cubs catcher Willson Contreras with a pitch earlier in the game. It was the seventh time Contreras has been hit by a Brewers pitch over the last two seasons.

Cubs manager David Ross was suspended one game for the incident and will serve his ban Friday against the Atlanta Braves. Mike Borzello - Chicago's associate pitching, catching, and strategy coach - was also suspended for one game, a source told ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

Tepera is appealing the suspension.

Contreras enacted his own revenge in the eighth inning when he hit an eventual game-winning, two-run home run.
