The Tampa Bay Rays got another gem from ace Tyler Glasnow on Monday, and the dominant outing put him in the same conversation as legends Pedro Martinez and Curt Schilling.

In his third start of the 2021 campaign, Glasnow allowed two hits and one walk over 7 2/3 innings while striking out 14. The right-hander carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning.

The outing put Glasnow's season totals at 29 strikeouts and one run allowed through three starts. The only other pitchers of the modern era to manage to strike out at least 29 batters and allow no more than one run through their first three starts of a season are Martinez and Schilling, who both did so in 1998, according to Stats by STATS.

Pitcher Year IP K ER
Glasnow 2021 19.2 29 1
Martinez 1998 23 32 1
Schilling 1998 26 34 1

Glasnow managed the feat on the fewest innings pitched, also posting the best strikeout rate of the trio at 42.6%.

In the 1-0 victory over the Texas Rangers, the Rays improved to 5-5 while Glasnow earned his first win of the year.
