Report: Cubs bring back Cameron Maybin on minors deal

The Chicago Cubs and veteran outfielder Cameron Maybin agreed to a minor-league contract that includes an invite to MLB camp, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

Maybin finished the 2020 campaign as a member of the Cubs, hitting .250/.304/.365 over 18 contests.

Prior to that, Maybin spent 14 games with the Detroit Tigers, posting a .244/.311/.415 slash line. The Tigers traded him to the Cubs for minor-league infielder Zack Short.

Maybin is a 14-year veteran who's made appearances with nine different teams, including the 2017 champion Houston Astros. The 33-year-old owns a 94 wRC+ over 1,153 games and has accrued 15.1 WAR, according to FanGraphs.
