White Sox include AJ Hinch's signature in La Russa hiring graphic
Whoops.
In an email sent out announcing the hiring of Tony La Russa as the team's next manager, the Chicago White Sox included AJ Hinch's signature.
Hinch, the former manager of the Houston Astros who was suspended and subsequently fired for his role in the sign-stealing scandal, was rumored to be under consideration for the White Sox managerial vacancy. However, reports indicated Hinch was never formally interviewed. Regardless, his signature appears as the highlighted portion of the graphic, above La Russa's name.
Hinch is reportedly being interviewed for the Detroit Tigers' job.
On Thursday, La Russa inked a multi-year contract to become the next manager of the White Sox. The 76-year-old Hall of Famer is now the oldest active skipper in baseball. He last managed the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011.
