San Diego Padres right-hander Mike Clevinger has been replaced on the NLDS roster by reliever Dan Altavilla, the team announced Wednesday.
Clevinger, who left his Game 1 start against the Los Angeles Dodgers after 24 pitches due to a lingering elbow injury, will not be eligible to return for the NLCS if the Padres advance.
Tuesday was Clevinger's first appearance in 13 days after sustaining the injury.
Clevinger did not suffer further damage to his elbow by pitching in Game 1, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Padres are already without star right-hander Dinelson Lamet, who is sidelined with a biceps injury.
Clevinger was acquired from the Cleveland Indians at the trade deadline and went 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over 19 innings with San Diego to close out the regular season.
