The San Diego Padres' playoff picture came into focus Friday afternoon before they even took the field.

The Padres have clinched the fourth seed in the National League thanks to the St. Louis Cardinals' 3-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in the first game of their doubleheader.

San Diego is now set to host a playoff game for the first time since 2006.

While the Padres know where they stand, it remains to be seen which team will travel to San Diego for a three-game wild-card series next week. The weekend's games will determine the Padres' opponent after the Cardinals' loss Friday left them tied with the Cincinnati Reds for the NL's fifth seed.
