The New York Yankees punched their ticket to the postseason for the fourth straight year and 22nd time since 1995 after the San Diego Padres beat the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
Now 31-22, the Yankees currently sit 3 1/2 games back of the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays.
New York has a four-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays followed by a season-ending three-game series against the Miami Marlins before the postseason officially gets underway on Sept. 29.
While the club has continued to make playoff appearances, the Yankees are coming off their first decade without a World Series championship since the 1980s.
