Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa had to be helped off the field Tuesday night after fouling a ball off his left leg during a sixth-inning at-bat against the Texas Rangers.

Correa was diagnosed with a bone bruise postgame, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.

The ball appeared to clip the 25-year-old in the shin or ankle area, according to McTaggart. Jack Mayfield completed the plate appearance by striking out and remained in the game at shortstop.

Correa was unable to put any weight on the leg while being helped off the field by Josh Reddick and a trainer.

The former All-Star has hit .276/.348/.399 with four homers over 47 games this year.
