New Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa argued with a police officer when he was arrested on suspicion of DUI in February, according to the full arrest report that Jeff Passan of ESPN obtained.
"Do you see my ring?" La Russa said.
"I'm a Hall of Famer baseball person," he added. "I'm legit. I'm a Hall of Famer, brother."
The 76-year-old was charged with DUI after allegedly running his car into a curb in the Phoenix area. He refused to submit to a breathalyzer or provide a blood sample. The officer eventually obtained a search warrant for the samples.
The White Sox were aware of La Russa's arrest when they announced his hiring in late October.
The skipper previously pleaded guilty to DUI in 2007 after falling asleep at a traffic light.
"I accept full responsibility for my conduct, and assure everyone that I have learned a very valuable lesson and that this will never occur again," La Russa said at the time, according to ESPN's Passan, Paula Lavigne, and Charlie Moynihan.
La Russa was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2014.
