The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox each sent highly touted rookie hurlers to the mound for Tuesday's contest, and neither disappointed as Casey Mize and Dane Dunning combined for a landmark pitching line.
The game marked the first since at least 1901 where two pitchers making their debuts notched seven or more strikeouts each, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com.
Mize, the top right-handed pitching prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, ended his night after 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven. The 23-year-old former first overall pick also became the first starter in franchise history to punch out seven with no walks during a debut, according to Austin Drake of Fox Sports Detroit.
Meanwhile, Dunning looked impressive as well, also striking out seven over 4 1/3 innings while allowing three runs on five hits and one walk. The 25-year-old right-hander, ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the White Sox system, had a particularly dominant third inning, striking out the side:

Both pitchers will have to wait to earn the first win of their careers, as they were stuck with a no-decision. Chicago wound up winning the game 5-3.
