New York Yankees utility man DJ LeMahieu is expected to rejoin the club this week, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
LeMahieu, 32, tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month and needed to be isolated from the club. At the time of the positive test, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said LeMahieu was asymptomatic.
The three-time All-Star finished fourth in AL MVP voting last year after hitting .327/.375/.518 over 145 games with 26 homers and five steals while playing first, second, and third base.
After spending the first eight years of his career in the National League - seven of which as a member of the Colorado Rockies - LeMahieu landed a two-year, $24-million contract with New York last winter. In his first season with the Yankees, he set career highs in runs scored, homers, RBIs, SLG, and OPS+ while winning his first Silver Slugger.
