Harper echoes Snell's pay-cut complaints: 'Somebody's gotta say it'

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper has Blake Snell's back.

While playing Fortnite on Twitch, Harper was told about Snell's comments ripping the proposal asking players to take further pay cuts for the 2020 season to get underway.

"He ain't lying, he's right. He's speaking the truth bro," Harper said, according to Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia. "I ain't mad at him. Somebody's gotta say it, at least he manned up and said it. Good for him. I love Snell, the guy's a beast. One of the best lefties in the game."

In March, players and owners agreed to prorate contracts based on the amount of games played this season.

Citing losses because no fans will be allowed to attend games, owners have since pushed for further salary reductions in a revenue-sharing program. Snell responded on Wednesday.

"If I'm going to play, I should be getting money I signed to be getting paid," the Tampa Bay Rays lefty said. "I should not be getting half of what of I'm getting paid because the season is cut in half on top of a 33% cut of the half that's already there. So, I'm really getting, like, 25%. On top of that, it's getting taxed. So, imagine how much I'm actually making to play."

Prior to the 2019 season, Harper inked a 13-year, $330-million contract with the Phillies.
