Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Stephen Vogt and his wife Alyssa are homeschooling their three kids during the coronavirus pandemic. The veteran backstop appeared on MLB Network Radio on Monday to discuss the challenges inherent to the task.

"The patience level is probably not as high as that of a typical preschool teacher," Vogt said. "That's probably what I lack in experience."

The two-time All-Star signed a one-year deal with the Diamondbacks this offseason. Vogt said he received his degree in education with a focus on physical education, so he has a background in the field.

Still, after being out of school for a long time, it's been an adjustment teaching preschoolers and a second-grader.

"My daughter, she's a second-grader, so now she's starting to get into pronouns and adjectives, and I do not enjoy that at all," he said with a laugh. "SAT-wise, math was my forte. We scored a little below average in the verbal portion of the SAT, and that's been about almost 20 years now. We're having to relearn a lot of things."

Vogt added that he's excelling at capital letters, and he's made significant strides with his penmanship over the last month.
