Pedro Martinez's 1999 season remains one of the greatest ever produced by a starting pitcher, and he put an exclamation point on the campaign with this performance on Sept. 10 at Yankee Stadium.
In a critical start for the Boston Red Sox during their playoff push, Martinez stymied the defending World Series champion New York Yankees by striking out a career-high 17 batters in a complete-game, one-hit performance. The start was Martinez's 21st win of the season and stands out as one of the signature regular-season outings of his Hall of Fame career.
