The Atlanta Braves and free-agent first baseman Yonder Alonso have agreed to a minor-league deal, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
The 32-year-old opened the 2019 season with the Chicago White Sox before being released in early July. He then signed with the Colorado Rockies for the remainder of the season.
It was a forgettable campaign for the veteran infielder, as he slashed .199/.296/.346 with 10 home runs in 121 games.
An All-Star with the Oakland Athletics in 2017, Alonso will look to offer some left-handed pop off the bench if he makes the big-league club. Stud first baseman Freddie Freeman is on the Braves' roster, so there's no clear path to playing time for Alonso outside of a reserve role.
