The Major League Baseball Players' Association handed out the Players Choice Awards on Thursday. The winners were headlined by New York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom, who was named the National League's Outstanding Pitcher for the second consecutive year after posting a 2.43 ERA over 32 starts.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout received multiple awards in being both the American League's Outstanding Player and the overall Player of the Year.
Several players in this year's World Series also had their efforts recognized by their peers. Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander was named the AL's Outstanding Pitcher while designated hitter Yordan Alvarez received the league's top rookie honors.
Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon was recognized as the NL's Outstanding Player after hitting 34 home runs while posting a career-best 1.010 OPS.

Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson made good on his one-year deal after he was sidelined by injuries for much of 2018. He hit 37 home runs (his most since 2016) and posted a .900 OPS in 155 games.
Joining Donaldson on the comeback trail was Texas Rangers outfielder Hunter Pence. While his season was ultimately cut short at 83 games, he was a steady presence in the lineup for much of the season's first half. He hit .297/.358/.552 with 18 home runs and was named to his first All-Star team since 2014.
For the fourth time in his 16-year career, and second consecutive season, Curtis Granderson was voted the Marvin Miller Man of the Year for his work on and off the field.
