Felix Hernandez's tenure with the Seattle Mariners may be over, but the 15-year veteran has no intention of walking away from Major League Baseball.

"We'll see if I can find a job," Hernandez said after Thursday's game, according to Greg Johns of MLB.com. "I'm not retiring."

The end of his contract, combined with the steep drop-off in his effectiveness, created the expectation that Thursday's start would be his last wearing a Mariners uniform. After working 5 1/3 innings against the Oakland Athletics, an emotional Hernandez exited to an ovation from the home crowd befitting the legendary career he put together in Seattle.

Hernandez debuted with the Mariners in 2005 at the age of 19. He avoided free agency with a seven-year, $175-million extension that's coming to an end after the season.

The six-time All-Star won the AL Cy Young in 2010 and threw a perfect game in 2012. He pitched at least 200 innings across eight straight seasons from 2008-15 and tallied a 113-76 record with a 2.90 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 1,724 strikeouts in 1,796 2/3 innings during that span.

Beset by injuries for much of 2019, Hernandez went 1-8 with a 6.40 ERA over 15 starts.
