Atlanta Braves outfielder Charlie Culberson suffered multiple facial fractures when a pitch hit him in the face on Saturday night, manager Brian Snitker said on Sunday, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic.

Snitker also told reporters Culberson didn't suffer any displaced fractures and won't need surgery, though he will miss the rest of the season.

The skipper added that the 30-year-old looked and sounded better than expected and he's already been released from the hospital.

After entering the game as a pinch-hitter, Culberson was hit in the face by a Fernando Rodney fastball when he squared around to bunt. He was eventually carted off the field.

The initial assessment was positive and it appears Culberson avoided major damage to his eye and mouth, O'Brien adds.
