Bo Bichette's hot streak to start his career reached record-breaking territory Tuesday, as the shortstop registered a hit for his ninth straight game and set a new club mark for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bichette then became the first player in MLB history to record 10 extra-base hits in his first nine games with a double down the line in the seventh inning.

Entering the series against the Tampa Bay Rays, Bo, the son of former big leaguer Dante, had been on a torrid pace to start his MLB career, boasting a .417/.462/.833 slash line with three homers and six doubles.

With the leadoff single in the third inning, Bichette broke the club record previously held by Jesse Barfield and Ryan Goins, who both boasted eight-game hit streaks to begin their careers.

The most consecutive games with a hit to begin a career is owned by David Dahl and Chuck Aleno, who both registered base knocks in 17 straight.
