The Oakland Athletics have acquired right-handed starter Tanner Roark in exchange for center field prospect Jameson Hannah, the team announced on Wednesday.
Cincinnati will also pay the remaining $2.1 million left on Roark's salary, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Roark, 32, is an impending free agent. He's gone 6-7 with a 4.24 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 21 starts for the Reds this season.
The veteran hurler apparently found out about the trade while in an Arby's parking lot to get a beef and cheddar with a side of curly fries, according to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic.
He'll join a rotation that already features several veterans, including Mike Fiers, Brett Anderson, and the recently acquired Homer Bailey. The A's have a wealth of young pitching talent at various stages of injury recovery, and they also lost top starter Frankie Montas to a PED suspension earlier this season.
Meanwhile, after Roark's departure, the Reds' rotation will likely feature Trevor Bauer, Luis Castillo, Sonny Gray, Alex Wood, and Anthony DeSclafani.
Hannah was MLB Pipeline's eighth-ranked prospect in Oakland's system. The 21-year-old is batting .283/.341/.381 in 92 games at High-A this season.
