Philadelphia Phillies general manager Matt Klentak will travel with the team to Detroit, allowing him to watch potential trade target Matthew Boyd in person, according to Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Boyd is scheduled to start against the Phillies on Tuesday. The Phillies have reportedly held trade talks with the Tigers about Boyd and closer Shane Greene.

Detroit is believed to be seeking a massive haul in exchange for Boyd, who has three seasons of team control remaining after this year.

Philadelphia has been linked to several pitchers ahead of the trade deadline. A struggling rotation has the Phillies ranked 13th in the National League in team ERA and on the outside of the playoff picture.

Boyd is 6-8 with a 4.13 ERA in 20 starts this season, though his peripheral numbers are much more impressive.
