The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated reliever Keone Kela from the 60-day injured list Monday, but immediately suspended him two games for violating his contract, the team announced.

Pittsburgh did not specify the infraction committed by Kela, who hasn't pitched since May 4 due to an injured shoulder.

Kela appeared in 14 games before landing on the IL, posting a 4.63 ERA across 11.2 innings of work. The 26-year-old excelled with the Pirates a season ago, authoring a 3.29 ERA in 52 innings.

The Pirates are set to host the St. Louis Cardinals for a four-game series beginning Monday.
