Though Boyd's 4.13 ERA isn't anything to write home about, the southpaw boasts impressive peripheral numbers this season. He leads the American League with a 6.67 strikeout-to-walk ratio, carries a 3.56 FIP, and has amassed 2.7 WAR. Boyd is also under team control for another three seasons.
The Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, and Houston Astros are among the clubs that have been linked to the 28-year-old leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.
It was reported in late June that Detroit was seeking "multiple impact prospects" in a deal for Boyd.
