Toronto Blue Jays rookie Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finally broke out in a big way, and his efforts didn't go unnoticed. The 20-year-old third baseman was named American League Player of the Week on Monday.

Prior to last week, Guerrero had yet to hit a home run following his promotion to the majors. But he proceeded to slash .333/.417/.905 with four homers and nine RBIs over a six-game span, which began with a two-homer day against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

Guerrero is the youngest Blue Jay in history to win Player of the Week honors. The distinction previously belonged to Junior Felix, who was 21 when he earned the accolade in 1989, according to Mike Wilner of Sportsnet.

The rookie has a long way to go before catching up to his dad, however. Vladimir Guerrero Sr. was named Player of the Week on 10 occasions during his big-league career, according to Jayson Stark of The Athletic.
