Price says Fortnite is not banned in Red Sox clubhouse

Rumors of Fortnite's demise in the Boston Red Sox clubhouse were apparently misinterpreted.

Red Sox southpaw David Price said the team didn't ban the popular game from the clubhouse, but rather that players are simply not playing it as much.

"There is no ban on Fortnite. That's not true," Price told Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe.

The game was present in the home clubhouse throughout the 2018 season and was believed by some to have contributed to Price's mild case of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Still, its presence has been muted, according to right-hander Nathan Eovaldi.

"I haven't seen it this year," Eovaldi said, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI. "Usually everybody had it set up in their lockers. But I haven't seen it."

Eovaldi also said it was probably better to focus on making on-field improvements, as the Red Sox sit fourth in the American League East with a 14-17 record heading into Thursday's action.

"I think there is a time and place for that, too," he added. "Maybe if we were doing a little better maybe we would be doing it, but you can't be losing and playing Fortnite in the clubhouse."

Gaming within the clubhouse has caused its share of controversy recently. The Toronto Blue Jays implemented a video game curfew prior to the campaign, and Carlos Santana apparently demolished a television with a bat while with the Philadelphia Phillies last season out of frustration with his teammates playing Fortnite during a game.
