With the sixth pick in the 2019 MLB amateur draft, the San Diego Padres selected CJ Abrams, a high school shortstop out of Georgia.
The 18-year-old prep star is an Alabama commit. He possesses elite speed on the basepaths, but Abrams might not be able to stick as a big-league shortstop. However, he can likely become an everyday center fielder or second baseman because of his athleticism.
