Randal Grichuk, Tim Anderson get into Twitter beef over bat flips

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk is apparently not the biggest fan of bat flips.

The 27-year-old offered his thoughts on the recent surge of home run celebrations, suggesting players need to calm down.

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson took notice. Anderson unleashed an epic bat toss after he hit a two-run home run in Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. He was hit with the first pitch of his very next at-bat, and was subsequently ejected along with Royals hurler Brad Keller.

The timing of Grichuk's tweet may have suggested he was talking about the slugging infielder. Anderson certainly seemed to think so.

Grichuk denied the notion that he was targeting Anderson, explaining that he was speaking generally. He added that Anderson's reply might be indicative of a guilty conscience, though.

Meanwhile, Anderson also said Wednesday that he fancies himself a showman and remained unapologetic for his enthusiasm after crushing a monster home run.

The spat between Anderson and Grichuk wasn't the only discussion on the matter on social media. Cincinnati Reds reliever Amir Garrett offered a fairly balanced take, saying pitchers should use a bat flip as motivation to get the batter out the next time.
