Adam Jones doesn't suffer fools and he won't put up with heckling once it crosses a line.

During Wednesday's game against the San Diego Padres, the Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder requested that a fan be removed from Petco Park after the spectator started swearing at him, according to Zach Buchanan of The Athletic.

"These fans in sports, man, they're starting to get a little more brazen," Jones told Buchanan. "I've said it many times, and obviously I've had altercations with fans. My biggest thing is, keep the banter polite - we suck, I struck out, the team's not good. Keep it light, keep it smart. There's kids in the stadium.

"But the second you start cussing me out like I'm a little kid, that's a no-no. On the street, they'd never do that. In the ballpark when you've paid your admission, there's no need for all that stuff. The second I hear somebody cussing us out, you're gone. I could care less that they're gone. That's just how it is. I made a nice play, and just hearing the B-word, F-word, that's not baseball talk. So ... he gone."

Jones added that it was extra disappointing considering he was subjected to the profanity in his hometown.

It's not the first time that Jones has had a run-in with an opposing team's fans. Two years ago, he said he was taunted by fans at Fenway Park using racist insults.

Wednesday's incident did not include racist remarks from the stands, however.

"No. Just cussing, using foul language," Jones said. "It doesn't play in baseball to me. People say, 'have thicker skin' and all that stuff. We have plenty of thick skin. You can't sit there and berate us like we're little kids. If you want to do all that, you do it afterward. You do it off the field."
