The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a one-year contract with free-agent reliever Greg Holland on Thursday, the team announced.
Holland will earn a base salary of $3.25 million with another $3.5 million available in incentives based on games played and games finished, Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports reports.
The 33-year-old will compete for save opportunities with right-hander Archie Bradley and southpaw Andrew Chafin.
Holland signed a one-year, $14-million deal with the St. Louis Cardinals at the end of March last year only to be designated for assignment four months later after recording a 7.92 ERA over 25 innings.
He landed with the Nationals shortly thereafter and finished the campaign strongly, posting a 0.84 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with three saves over 21 1/3 innings with Washington down the stretch.
The former Kansas City Royals closer has bounced around in recent seasons but was one of the most reliable relievers in baseball from 2011 through 2015. Over those five campaigns, he locked down 145 saves with a 2.15 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a sparkling 12.2 K/9 while appearing in two All-Star games.
