Atkins: Likelihood of Blue Jays trading Stroman, Sanchez 'not high'

There may be serious interest in starting pitchers Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez but Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins doesn't seem to anticipate a trade in the immediate future.

"(The) likelihood of those guys being moved is not high, it's just we have to entertain (the idea)," Atkins said, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.

While a deal seems like a long shot as the winter meetings get underway in Las Vegas, that isn't stopping Toronto from listening to offers.

Atkins met with five different teams Monday and described interest in the two pitchers as "significant," according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.

The Blue Jays executive isn't ruling out a deal involving one of his young starters and recently said the team could "absolutely" agree to a trade. For the time being it appears the offers aren't meeting the team's price tag, though conversations remain ongoing.

"Just when you think something is close, it doesn't take much for it to completely go away," Atkins told Nicholson-Smith.
