Manny Machado's recent shenanigans - including the admission that hustling isn't his "cup of tea" - is unlikely to impact his stock in free agency, industry sources told Jon Morosi of MLB.com.

One high-ranking club executive said the effect on Machado's value will be "minimal," and several others agreed with that assessment.

Machado, who was acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 18 and will hit the open market this winter, raised eyebrows after Game 2 of the NLCS when he acknowledged he should give "a little more effort" running down the first base line.

"That's been Manny since Day 1," a veteran scout said of Machado's lackadaisical trot to first base.

The All-Star shortstop incited more controversy in Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers after a questionable slide into second base and an apparent kick of Jesus Aguilar at first base. Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich labeled Machado a "dirty player."

Machado was involved in a similar controversy last year when he injured Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox on a slide into second base. He also sparked multiple benches-clearing incidents in 2014 while feuding with the Oakland Athletics.

Machado hit .273/.367/.538 with 37 home runs and 107 RBIs over 162 regular-season games this season split between the Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles. He could be in line for a gigantic contract in the offseason as he enters the prime years of his career.
