Yankees' Boone had rough drive home after Game 3
Warning: Story contains coarse language
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone didn't listen to talk radio on his way home from Yankee Stadium after Monday night's 16-1 blowout loss to the Boston Red Sox. Instead, he listened to the soul-healing sounds of the 1980s, turning his SiriusXM radio to "80s on 8."
Still, it didn't completely do the trick.
"It was a shitty drive home," Boone said, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
Apparently, Boone received enough texts telling him to "hang in there" for him to understand how critical voices on sports radio were of his squad.
Much of the criticism levied at Boone has been related to his decision to leave starter Luis Severino in the game in the fourth, especially after he loaded the bases without recording an out. Entering the inning, it was a manageable 3-0 deficit. After the fourth, it was 10-0.
Boone tried to put the blowout in the past with elimination looming.
"Today's too damn important to dwell on (the blowout)," Boone said, according to Coley Harvey of ESPN.
