Lost Red Sox 2018 championship banner found on road

The Boston Red Sox still haven't clinched the American League East, but that doesn't mean they aren't prepared for it. Or, they were, until their championship banner fell off the back of a truck.

Three friends from Malden, Mass. noticed something in the middle of a Somerville street while out for coffee Monday morning. Turns out it was the banner wrapped in brown paper, according to Ted Daniel of Boston 25 News.

"One person ran it over and hit it a little bit," Louie Iacuzzi, one of the three friends, said. "I'm like, 'Pull over, what is it?'"

A spokesperson for the team said they were aware of the missing banner. They don't have to worry about having a new one made, however, as Iacuzzi plans on returning it when the team sends a courier Wednesday morning.

"I'm going to give them back the banner, and that's going to be the good luck charm," Iacuzzi said.

Should the Red Sox defeat the New York Yankees on Wednesday, they'll be able to hoist the banner shortly after its arrival.
