The Colorado Rockies' reunion with Matt Holliday is official, as the club has selected the outfielder's contract from Triple-A prior to their game against the San Diego Padres on Thursday.

Holliday, 38, went unsigned throughout the entire offseason and into the 2018 campaign until he agreed to a minor-league deal with the Rockies at the end of July. Through 15 games with Triple-A Albuquerque, the veteran is 18-for-52 with three homers and four doubles.
Holliday played the first five seasons of his career in Colorado, beginning in 2004. The seven-time All-Star and four-time silver slugger notably won the batting title and finished second in National League MVP voting in 2007, when he also claimed the NLCS MVP before his team was swept in the World Series by the Boston Red Sox.
In his return to the Rockies, Holliday will wear No. 7, with his old number - No. 5 - being worn by Carlos Gonzalez.
The Rockies find themselves right in the middle of a pennant race, sitting 1 1/2 games back of the division-leading Arizona Diamondbacks and three games up on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Catcher Chris Rabago was claimed off waivers Wednesday by the New York Yankees, which opened a spot on the 40-man roster for Holliday.
