Beltre willing to waive no-trade clause to move to contender

After spending the last eight seasons with the Texas Rangers, it's a real possibility that Adrian Beltre could finish the season in a different uniform.

With the Rangers well out of contention heading into the non-waiver trade deadline, Beltre said he's open to waiving his no-trade clause for an opportunity to win his first World Series.

"If it's the right situation, I would consider going with the chance that I could win a championship," he told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. "It's not going to happen here (with Texas), unfortunately. So to be able to go somewhere and help a team win a championship, that's important to me."

Beltre is a four-time All-Star, five-time Gold Glove winner, and member of the 3,000-hit club, but has yet to win a World Series in 21 major-league seasons. He has only reached the Fall Classic once, back in 2011, when the Rangers lost in seven games.

The 39-year-old has spent time on the DL this season with a hamstring injury, but is healthy now and could help a contender. In 61 games, he's hitting .289/.351/.404 with four home runs and 11 doubles.

Despite being open to a move this season, Beltre said he would like to return to the Rangers if he decides to play in 2019.
