The Chicago Cubs may have joined the legion of suitors eyeing Toronto Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ.

The Cubs may have interest in acquiring the 35-year-old starting pitcher, Bob Elliott of the Canadian Baseball Network reports.

There's no indication of what the Cubs may be looking to offer in a trade, but their interest could stem from the lingering injury to Yu Darvish and the ineffectiveness of Tyler Chatwood.

Happ has been Toronto's most reliable starter for much of this season, but he struggled over his last four outings as his ERA jumped from 3.48 to 4.44.

Still, the impending free agent is expected to draw plenty of interest heading into July's trade deadline despite the recent hiccup in his performance.
