The New York Mets placed reliever Jeurys Familia on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder soreness and recalled right-hander Jacob Rhame from Triple-A on Friday.

Familia's move to the DL, retroactive to Thursday, comes two days after he allowed the losing run on two hits during the eighth inning of the Mets' game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 28-year-old owns a 2.48 ERA and 2.32 FIP with 14 saves over 29 innings this season.

He experienced dead arm at the beginning of the season and was sidelined briefly with a shoulder issue. In the middle of last season, the right-hander also spent time on the 60-day disabled list after undergoing shoulder surgery to remove a blood clot.

Rhame, 25, last pitched in the majors at the end of May. Over 11 1/3 innings with the Mets this year, the right-hander's posted a 6.35 ERA and 5.06 FIP.
